:bulletred:This Is Where I Say Goodbye
Vine and Compressed Charcoal on Watercolor Paper
May 15, 2006

My newest piece involves my feelings on the constantly changing technology that is part of our lives every day. It seems like people are never happy with their electronics, and since there’s always something out there that’s bigger, newer, or more advanced than what we’ve got, the things we have don’t seem so special anymore. Even something as simple as a telephone can be outdated in a matter of months. I wanted to express this by treating such an outdated object like it was mere garbage, and destroying it beyond repair. After all, there are many new telephones out there that are so much better than this one, right? I used a simple black and white color scheme to place emphasis on the content of the piece rather than its color. I also found that it was reminiscent of old black and white photography or television programs, to further enhance the “old and outdated” quality of it all. I chose to use charcoal and graphite so I could add detail and get a full range of values.

This is the piece that was shown at my art show. Again, I apologize for having not posted anything since December -_- but the good news is, that'll change.

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, exhibit number one is what the seraphs, the misinformed, simple, noble-winged seraphs, envied. Look at this tangle of thorns.
