:bulletblue:Our Fatal Longing
Graphite, charcoal, and white chalk on watercolor paper
Completed December 19, 2005
18'' x 24''

Well folks, here's another drawing...one of the few I've done this semester that I actually like...but then again I'm a picky one ^^;

Model: My sister Michelle, better known around here as ~Tevy

:bulletblue: Death and the Artists :bulletblue:

How often must I shake my bells and kiss
Your forehead, gloomy and grotesque: forever?
How many arrows must I shoot and miss,
Aiming at Nature's mystery, you my quiver?

We might break many a clumsy armature,
We wear our spirit out in subtle schemes,
Before we get to contemplate the creature
We long for, sobbing in infernal dreams.

Some seek an idol they will never know,
And sculptors carrying the mark of Cain
Who hammer their own breast and their own brow

Long only for one strange and somber prize:
That when like a new sun Death fills the skies
The flowers at last will blossom in their brain.

~Charles Baudelaire

Oooh, very cool! Awesome shading and perspective! Are those rats? They kinda creep me out.

Not a fan of them. There was a rat running around in one of my classes just a week or so ago. *shiver* Someone caught it in a trashbin and I went to go look, and it nearly jumped out at me. Yes, apparently rats can jump. Lol, that's some knowledge I could have lived without.

But other than the presence of rats (or mice), a very nice picture!

I love this one as much as all your others (yes, that is a good thing)! Your mice are soooo cute. I can't get over them.

In my completely un-expert opinion, the perspective of the wall seems a bit funny, but the shading is terrific. The rats add an almost macabre layer, which complements the introspective subject well.

I must concur with Setsuna though...I did not guess it was Tevy until I saw your description either!
